Joining the Hawaii
Education Association
There
are five categories of HEA membership:
Active
Member: Any person in educational service (or retired) in
the State of Hawaii.
Life
Member: Granted to all educators upon retirement who have
been members of HEA for ten consecutive years or have been members for
twenty years, provided they were members for the last two years. They
pay no dues.
Associate
Member: Any person interested in advancing the cause of
Education. (Does not participate in governance).
Honorary
Member: Designated by the Board of Trustees in recognition
of distinguished service to Education in Hawaii.
Sustaining
Member: Any Active, Associate, or Life Member who makes
periodic donations to the Association.

Board
of Trustees
Members
of the HEA Board of Trustees are elected by Association members and
represent retired educators, active teachers, educational officers, and
higher education. Board members serve two-year terms, half of which are
selected each year on a statewide basis. The Board of Trustees normally
meets five times a year.
